RidgeGate Nature Journaling Walk | July 18

Imagine you could say…. “July 18th. 6:30 pm. I took a beautiful Nature Journaling Hike...” You can; RidgeGate is offering just that.... Discover a new way to perceive the outdoors. We’ll hike with a trained naturalist from South Suburban Parks and Recreation to the summit of the RidgeGate Bluffs, then practice journaling techniques while sitting quietly during the sunset.
When: Thur, July 18 @ 6:30-8p
WhereWe will meet in the parking lot near the backstop at Prairie Sky Park behind the Lone Tree Recreation Center. The parking lot is right near the trailhead for the Willow Creek Trail, which leads up to a sandstone sitting area at the summit of the bluffs for a beautiful view of the front range.
Getting There: South off of Lincoln Ave. Drive straight through the roundabout and you will be on RidgeGate Circle. The Lone Tree Recreation Center is on your left. Take the left before the Recreation Center (Rose Tuggle Lane), go one block and turn right on Crossington Way. Follow Crossington Way around the back of the Recreation Center to the parking lot where you'll will see the ball fields and the backstop.
Cost: free
Good to Know: family-friendly nature hike; ideal for children ages 8 and up. Due to some moderately steep and rocky sections, strollers are not a good fit for this trail. Bring a journal and a pen or some drawing materials. A limited number of extra journals will be on hand. This 2-mile hike involves a moderate elevation gain of about 500'. You'll want to wear a sturdy pair of walking shoes and bring a water bottle and a snack.
