Arapahoe Community Education Workshop :: Elite Glass Blowing In One Day: Experience It. Immerse yourself in the art form of glass blowing. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals on health and safety in the studio, how to manipulate and work molten glass on a blow pipe and punty rod, and use of specific tools to create your own masterpieces to take home. Starting their 31st season, the Cherry Creek Chorale's Oct 8 & 9 performances focused on The Wild West with a selection of western-themed music performed by the Colorado Children's Chorale, the 130-voice strong Cherry Creek Chorale, and Bill Barwick and the Sons of the Tumbleweed (with Johnny Neill on fiddle and Steve McCartney on bass). My favorite were the more lively tunes: Buffalo Gals, Ghost Riders in the Sky, and This Old Man. The purity of the the Cherry Creek Chorale's sound always lifts me, albeit temporarily, to a higher place. Each year the Chorale present a series of four performances; the theme for the 2010-2011 series is Compass Points. Next concert scheduled for December 10 & 11 is Stars in the East.

At Arapahoe Community College :: Beginning and Intermediate Oil Painting If you have ever felt lost or frustrated in a painting class, you will find it very different here. Valorie has developed a comprehensive curriculum, providing basic information frequently overlooked in many art classes. Learn about the various types of brushes, how to apply paint, painting techniques and color theory. Choose your subjects as you complete assigned exercises and progress at your own pace. If you have painted before, you can build on what you already know and explore information missed in previous art classes. The class includes lectures, notes, demonstrations, and individual help. This class requires the use of non-toxic Turpenoid Natural, rather than turpentine or other dangerous solvents.
