Expand your horizons through our short-term classes in art, writing, music (ensemble or private lessons) and more. These not-for-credit classes don't require auditions and there are no tests or grades. SoSuburban District Seeks Members for Public Art Committee

Here's your chance to have your say in the selection and placement of public art in the South Suburban Recreation District...  South Suburban Park and Recreation District’s Public Art Committee (SSPAC) seeks to fill two openings for terms scheduled to expire in July 2013, and continue through July 2015. Selected applicants would join the SSPAC now, and then assume the terms through July 2015. Committee's Role and Tasks : The South Suburban Public Art Committee recommends to the South Suburban Board of Directors the selection, placement and installation of art in public parks, along trails and in recreation facility venues to encourage a legacy of art to be enjoyed by South Suburban residents. The Committee also oversees the selection of art for temporary gallery exhibitions in the recreation centers. SSPAC is composed of 7-9 members, including one representative from the Littleton Fine Arts Council and one from the Lone Tree Fine Arts Council....

Douglas County CO Relocating 19th Century Cabin

Douglas County seeks permanent home for 19th Century cabin. A rare, remaining representation of Douglas County’s history – the 19 th Century  Miksch-Helmer homestead cabin – is in need of a new permanent home and Douglas County seeks the public’s help. The owner of the property on which the cabin currently sits has asked for the County’s help as he can no longer serve as the building’s custodian. In an effort to preserve what is one of the remaining structures of this era in the Chatfield Valley, Douglas County is committed to relocate the structure. The County is carefully evaluating numerous sites and has identified desired locations, yet continues to seek public input. “The landowner is working with us as he is passionately interested in ensuring that the cabin finds a new home, on a site that is compatible with the structure’s value to the County’s history and heritage,” said Judy Hammer, Douglas County’s Historic Preservation Board Administrator. “Historic preser...
